In 2009 Australia took a leap forward in media access with AD now being offered in 12 independent cinemas across Australia. AD will continue to develop and prosper in Australia if consumers get involved.

• Sign up for our free audio description (AD) email newsletter (in the left-hand coloumn of any page on this website)
  
• Call MAA’s AD infoline on 1300 165 642 for updates (local call cost, landlines only)
• Tune in to Media Access Australia’s radio segment about audio description

Use your consumer power

Unless the general public band together to support audio description and lobby for its inclusion in cinema, on DVD, and in theatre and the arts, audio description will remain off the media agenda. To support this service you could:

• Visit one of the 12 independent cinemas showing audio described (AD) movies. Your support helps show cinema owners and managers that there is a market for AD cinema.
• Request AD DVDs at your local DVD store.
• Request AD plays at theatre venues and attend scheduled AD performances.

Spread the word

• Get your friends and family to use and request audio description (AD), whether on DVD, or at the cinema.
