Latest figures on audio described DVDs – February 2010

Audio described DVD titles on new release shelves during the month of February 2010 stand at 28% of all titles.  

The DVD titles released since January with audio description are:

•    500 Days of Summer
•    Aliens in the Attic
•    Couple’s Retreat
•    G Force
•    Gamer
•    Goal III
•    I Love You, Beth Cooper
•    Imagine That
•    Julie & Julia
•    Looking for Eric
•    Nothing But the Truth
•    A Perfect Getaway
•    Roman Polanski: Wanted & Desired
•    Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun Li
•    Whip It

A new statistic MAA reports on is the number of audio described theatrical releases.  A theatrical release is a film that was commercially shown in cinemas.  Members of the Australian Video and Software Distributors Association (AVSDA) have committed to a majority of theatrical releases on DVD having audio description.  42% of AVSDA member theatrical releases on the DVD shelves in February were audio described.  

A total of 54 titles were researched this month.  Of these titles, the following were audio described in other regions but not in Australia:

•    Coco Avant Chanel – Warner Bros
